Uhuru’s Cabinet Reshuffle – Isaac Ruto In?
It is suspected that President Uhuru Kenyatta could be planning a Cabinet Reshuffle. This is after former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto was airlifted to Nairobi. Sources in Bomet allege that a chopper was seen in Bomet and it was clear that it was heading to Nairobi ferrying Isaac. It is also alleged that Isaac Ruto is headed to State House to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta.
A cabinet reshuffle seems like the next thing to do after the changes that President Uhuru made in the Senate, where he replaced Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen with Samuel Poghisio. This was seen as a move to silence leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto. Susan Kihika – the Nakuru Senator and Senate Majority Whip was also replaced by Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata.
Kenyans on Social media suspect that Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter could be replaced by Isaac Ruto. Keter is seen as one of the closed cabinet secretaries to William Ruto. If this is the plan, President Uhuru will have retained the Energy top job in the Rift Valley region, and this will ensure regional balance, while at the same time maintaining his support in the region.
Isaac Ruto was the top critic of William Ruto during the last elections, a move that cost him his governorship position, losing it to the late Joyce Laboso. Isaac also left the Jubilee Party forming his own – Chama Cha Mashinani. Overtime, Isaac Ruto has made amends with the top Jubilee leadership. If he is appointed, Isaac Ruto will join Peter Munya as governors who lost their positions and become Cabinet Secretaries.
A cabinet reshuffle could provide a good distractions to Kenyans, who are now debating about the changes in the senate and the wrangles in the Jubilee Party. Let’s wait and see what results from the alleged meeting at State House.
